With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent school shutdowns, conversations around equity in assessment practices are more necessary than ever. In this workshop from the Writing Across the Curriculum program, participants will explore a range of writing assessment practices—such as rubrics, grading contracts, and specifications grading—that they can incorporate into their classroom writing pedagogy. We will also discuss strategies for responding to student writing in ways that can empower students.
