Presenters: Scott Anderson, PhD Student in the Department of Kinesiology and Collaborator with Healthy Minds; John Dunne, Distinguished Chair in Contemplative Humanities, Center for Healthy Minds, Professor of Asian Languages and Cultures Mindfulness is often thought of as a solitary pursuit that can help us manage our stress and promote resilience, but evidence suggests that it’s also beneficial for bridging seeming differences and recognizing shared humanity. In addition to mindfulness’ many potential benefits for physical and mental health, enhanced social connection, which itself supports resilience and wellbeing, is a significant part of mindfulness practice. In this training participants will learn about the science of mindfulness, its benefits for stress reduction and social connection, and a simple form of mindfulness practice.
