Microbes are essential for every aspect of life on Earth. They drive the planet’s nutrient cycles, clean up pollutants, keep humans healthy, and make our food supply possible. Microbes are also the primary source of antibiotics—drugs that transformed human existence in the 20th century. So why do microbes have such a bad name? Join Jo Handelsman, Director of the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, as she takes a closer look at our microbial planet.
