Working memory refers to the ability to hold onto a small amount of information and use it to accomplish a task, such as remembering a phone number and then dialing that number. Working memory taps into fundamental questions about how we think and how the brain gives rise to conscious awareness. Department of Psychology Professor Brad Postle will provide an overview of his lab’s research into working memory, which uses brain scanning and brain stimulation methods, to understand how working memory works in healthy young adults.
