Football scrimmage kicks off slate of free fan events

MADISON, Wis. -- Excited for the Badger athletic seasons to get underway? Looking for fun, family-friendly events? Then check out what the Badgers have in store for you in the coming days. Best of all, each of the events are free.

Wisconsin Football Open Scrimmages
Camp Randall Stadium
Monday, Aug. 12 and Monday, Aug. 19 (3:30-5:15 p.m.)

Need a football fix before the season opener? Head down to Camp Randall Stadium to check out one of two open football scrimmages with the Badgers.

Gate 1 of Camp Randall Stadium will open at 3 p.m. each day. The scrimmage each afternoon is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. One lucky fan in attendance at each event will win a pair of tickets to a home game this season.

In the event weather forces the scrimmages inside to the McClain Center, public access will be cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

Movie Night at Camp Randall
Camp Randall Stadium
Thursday, Aug. 15 (7:15 p.m.)

This exciting new event will allow fans to be in the stadium and enjoy the movie theater experience from the Camp Randall turf or in the stands. Fans will be treated to the classic Disney movie Remember The Titans on the stadium’s new high-definition video board.

Gate 1 of Camp Randall Stadium will open at 6:30 p.m. Fans will have the option to sit on the field (space permitting). Only blankets will be allowed on the field, and chairs will not be permitted. Only sealed bottled water will be permitted on the field. Food and other beverages of any kind may not go on to the field. Additional seating will be available in the south end zone stands. Accessible seating will be available. While sealed bottled water can be brought in to the event, no other food or beverages may be carried into Camp Randall Stadium. Limited concessions will be available for purchase. Footballs and other balls will not be permitted into the stadium.

In the event of rain or severe weather, the event will be cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

Wisconsin Football Family Fun Day presented by UW Health
Camp Randall Stadium
Saturday, Aug. 17 (5-7 p.m.)

Fans interested in meeting the team are invited to an annual late-summer tradition, Wisconsin Football Family Fun Day.

Head coach Gary Andersen and the Badgers will be available for autographs and photos. Bucky Badger and the UW Spirit Squad will also be in attendance. Fans should enter the stadium at Gate 1 or 10. Those in attendance will receive a team poster courtesy of the Wisconsin National Guard.

In the event of inclement weather, Family Fun Day will be moved indoors to the adjacent McClain Center.

Women’s Soccer 101 for Kids
McClimon Complex
Sunday, Aug. 18 (Noon)

Children 12 and under are invited to test their soccer skills with the women’s soccer team. Bring a ball and head out to the McClimon Complex as the women’s soccer team demonstrates drills and provides tips to improve your game.

Following the on-field activities, kids can enjoy a pizza party, photos and autographs with the team.

Wisconsin Volleyball Family Fun Day presented by HotelRed
UW Field House
Saturday, Aug. 24 (2 p.m.)

Fans can get their first glimpse of the Wisconsin volleyball team at Wisconsin Volleyball Family Fun Day.

Head coach Kelly Sheffield and the Badgers will be available for autographs and photos in addition to interactive games and more beginning at 2 p.m. Then stick around for a team scrimmage beginning at 3:30.

Men’s Soccer 101 for Kids

Sunday, Aug. 25 (2 p.m.)

Children 12 and under are invited to test their soccer skills with the men’s soccer team. Bring a ball and head out to the McClimon Complex for an afternoon with the Badgers, who will demonstrate drills and provide tips to help your child.
