MADISON, Wis. – The men's basketball game between Wisconsin and Northwestern, originally scheduled for Saturday in Evanston, Illinois, has been rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 23 at 5:30 p.m. (CT) at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
Saturday's contest was postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols within the Northwestern program.
All distributed tickets for the originally scheduled Wisconsin at Northwestern game will be valid for the game on Monday, Jan. 23.
Following Monday's game at Northwestern, Wisconsin is scheduled to play at Maryland on Wednesday at 6 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
STARTING FIVE - NORTHWESTERN
1. LAST TIME OUT:Â Wisconsin snapped a three-game losing skid with a 63-60 win over Penn State at home last Tuesday. UW trailed, 36-30, at halftime, but opened the second half on an 8-0 run to grab a 38-36 lead. The Badgers never trailed the rest of the way. Tyler Wahl returned to action after missing three games with injury, finishing with 10 points, five rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes. Steven crowl tallied his third-career double-double with a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds.
2. SERIES WITH NORTHWESTERN:Â Wisconsin plays at Northwestern on Monday after the original meeting (Jan. 21) was rescheduled due to COVID-19 within the NU program. UW has won 22 of the last 27 against the Wildcats, including 9 of the last 10 games at NU. The Badgers have won seven straight overall in the series.
3. STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE: The Badgers have played the ninth-toughest schedule in the NCAA according to the Sagarin Ratings. UW has posted a record of 6-5 in Quad 1/2 games in the NET Rankings, with zero losses outside the top two quadrants. At full strength, Wisconsin is 12-2, including 4-0 in the Big Ten, with all three conference losses this season coming without leading scorer, Tyler Wahl.
4. CARDIAC BADGERS:Â Wisconsin has played 10 games this season decided by five points or less, including three overtime games. The Badgers hold a 7-3 record in those contests. In fact, dating back to last season UW is now 19-6 in games decided by five or fewer points.
5. BIG STEVE: Steven Crowl has scored in double figures nine of the last 11 games for Wisconsin, including three 20-plus point games. In Big Ten play, Crowl is averaging a team-best 15.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, plus 2.6 assists per contest.
