The University of Wisconsin is known as the “birthplace of weather satellites.” Professor Steve Ackerman, Director of the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies in the Space Science and Engineering Center, will discuss how we got that reputation, and will give insight into the expertise and activities that keep UW-Madison internationally recognized as leaders in satellite meteorology.
